Closer Daily

When this isn’t the right resource

Closer Daily is built for relationships that feel distant, strained, or harder than either person wants. It’s not built for every situation, and it’s worth being honest about that upfront.

This site probably isn’t the right fit if:

  • There’s current physical, emotional, or verbal abuse in the relationship
  • You feel unsafe around this person, physically or otherwise
  • Addiction is active and untreated, and it’s shaping how this person treats you or others
  • A child or vulnerable adult is at risk of harm
  • You’re rebuilding contact after estrangement that involved serious harm, and you’re doing it without support
  • You’re not sure any of the above applies, but something about the relationship feels like more than distance

None of this means the relationship is unsalvageable, or that we think it is. It means the situation calls for support we’re not equipped to offer: a licensed therapist, a support group, or in some cases, legal or safety resources. Daily prompts aren’t built for that kind of complexity, and using them as a stand-in for real support could end up doing more harm than good.

Where to go instead

If you’re in immediate danger: Call 911 or your local emergency number.

Domestic violence support: The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-799-7233, or online at thehotline.org.

Substance use and addiction: SAMHSA’s National Helpline offers free, confidential support 24/7 at 1-800-662-4357.

Child abuse concerns: The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-422-4453.

Finding a therapist: Psychology Today’s therapist directory and your health insurance provider’s directory are both good starting points for licensed professionals in your area.

If you’re in crisis or thinking about suicide: Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7.

If you’re not sure which situation you’re in

That’s common, and it’s okay to not know yet. Our guide, is this a communication gap or something deeper?, is meant to help you think it through before deciding where to go next. It’s not a diagnosis, just a starting point.
